Yes it's true, macs will now be built with intel chips, total switch over by 2007, wonder how this will effect windows?

I doubt it will affect Windows that much one way or the other. IBM have decided to concentrate more on the advanced chip market for the playstation 3 and Xbox markets. I think they are moving way from general pc chips at the moment and Apple is just feeling the effects of that as IBM wasn't meeting their chip demands. I think once the Mac OS really becomes accessible (I have heard repeatedly their built in screen reader is really a joke and does not enable you to access that OS at all) we might be seeing some challenge to the Windoww world as far as the blind are concerned but I think it won't affect sighted Windows users that much, after all now both computers are running on Intel chips (well of course PCs could run on AMD chips as well).

You also have to take into account that Mac is going to try and brand intel hardware weather through a special hardware chip on the mother board which will act like a hardware dongle for jaws, they could use a specific chipset, or only specific driver support. This means that you won't be able to run OSX on an off the shelf eMachine computer.

I haven't been able to play with voice over yet, so can't say whether it sucks or not. I know people who love it, and those who hate it, so.. take it as you will.
